Product Description

This is a genetically modified E. coli strain engineered to enable the easy expression and purification of Taq DNA Polymerase. Our approach combines protein autoinduction, equipment-free lysis and chromatography-free purification to yield high-quality DIY Polymerase, equivalent to commercially available enzymes. The strain comes with a control strain producing visible mCherry enabling rapid troubleshooting of expression and purification.

Eco-friendly: Whenever you buy Taq DNA Polymerase, waste and greenhouse gas emissions are generated to package and ship Taq to you. Reduce your carbon footprint by making your own reagents.

Minimal effort: Our method takes less than one hour of hands-on time regardless of making Taq DNA Polymerase from 1 or 10 shake-flasks. Since a single 20 ml shake-flask culture yields 5000 units of Taq DNA Polymerase (4,000 reactions), it takes less than one hour of your time to make a year’s worth supply of Taq.

Accessible: Is your laboratory group not an expert or equipped for protein purification? It does not matter. This method uses simple steps and does not require ANY sophisticated protein purification equipment or expensive protein purification resins. You only need an incubator shaker, freezer and centrifuge for the whole procedure.

Price Comparison

For a one-time fee, the strain is yours to use within your laboratory. As shown below, just purchasing the strain and making Taq DNA Polymerase from a single 20 ml shake-flask is cheaper than purchasing purified Taq. Making enzyme from multiple shake-flasks is equally easy and dramatically decreases the cost of this reagent. Look under Product Description for more information
